"Society and Culture in general"
Abh society is broken down as follows: At the top of everything, are the eight royal families, followed by nobles. In the grand scheme of things, there are 2 types of nobles, low ranking like Feubdach, and high-ranking nobles like Great Duchess Spaurh Aronn. Abh nobles can have servants serving them, these servants can be men or women, Abh or terrain, and are called vassals. These vassals perform various tasks for their masters; some are skilled worker such as an electrician, while others simply clean house. Even the lowest ranking nobles can have vassals. The Baron Feubdach had 50 vassals. In the empire, abandoning ones vassals is one of the worst crimes a person can commit. Abh society is broken in two distinct sections; the Abh, and the people they rule over. It is kind of like how Spartan (Sparta: a city-state in ancient Greece) society was divided up. I guess that like Spartan society, Abh society can be broken down into a pyramid; At the very top of the pyramid is the empress, near the top; just below the empress are the eight royal families. Below the eight royal families, are the nobles, the highest ranking nobles make the upper section of the pyramid, while the lower ranking noble make up the lower section of the pyramid. Following the lowest ranking nobles, are the Abhs, which make up about an eight of the pyramid. Bellow the Abhs, are the terrain that they rule over. The terrains, or humans, make up nearly 3/4ths of the pyramid, starting at the base.

The word "Abh" has two meanings; the first, is a genetically altered human who most often has blue hair, an extra censor organ on their forehead, and has a lifespan of 200-250 years. They appear very young (20s-30s) and live the majority of their life in space. These abhs are "royalty", "knights", and "nobles". The second definition is a human from a ground world who has achieved a title in Abh society. This individual is a legal Abh and is a citizen of the empire. This person is in no way a genetic Abh, but is merely Abh in title.

"The extra censory organ"
This is an organ comprised of over 100 million microscopic eyes. It is in the shape of a diamond (at least in the anime it is) and enables the abh to "sense" everything going on around them. It is linked to 2 crystal that come out of the back of their ears and connect to a ships computer system, allowing them to sense and feel everything the ship senses and feels. It is usually covered by a gold or silver tiara (a face peace worn over the organ that has mirrors on the inside part that covers the organ).

"The extra censory organKin of the Stars"
The Abh refer to themselves as the "Kin of the Stars". The name suites them well, as they are the only space-faring race of people. All the other people in the universe live on ground worlds and few travel into space. While on the other hand, the vast majority of abhs are born in space and live their whole life space. Most abhs have never set foot on a ground world. In addition to living 200-250 years, abhs age like humans do until they are about 15, and over a period of about 25 years, age 10 years in appearance. This is called their "growth" and the period after the 25 years is called their "maturation".

"What abhs are like"
Abhs take great pride in how they act in public and how they conduct themselves. Contrary to what most people would think, the abhs do not take much pride in their appearance. It is not because they are ungrateful of who they are, but because personality and good conduct are more important to them. Any abh would rather be called "elegant" than "lovely" or "beautiful". Abhs are very practical people. They always like to "asses" a situation and enter it prepared. They do not like fighting, or having wars. They try to avoid battle unless it is unavoidable. While many terrain humans consider the abh reckless and arrogant, nothing is further from the truth! If you saw the first installment of the series, Seikai no Senki (Crest of the Stars), a good demonstration of abh practicality was put on by Admiral Tlaïmh prior to the battle of Safugnoff gateway. He was concerned to go into battle even though he had a tremendous advantage over the enemy. When abh have children, they must go through the genetic manipulation process to ensure 100% genetic purity. Usually the child is born from an artificial uterus but some abh prefer the natural way, if you know what I am talking about. The abh children are often referred to as "The Art of Genetic Manipulation", but as I said, abhs don't take pride in physical appearance.

"Abh names, titles, and families"
An abh name is comprised of 4 parts, a clan name, a family name, their title (if they have one), and their given name (example: Jinto). Clan names are very rarely changed, and are usually passed down along with the family name. Even though some abhs may carry the same clan name, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are related. In the case of the imperial family though, members who are not heirs to the king or queen, are not allowed to continue carrying the name Ablïarsec. They are instead assigned anew clan name. A clan consists of multiple abh families. All family names start with a title. There are six titles.
Néïc is the royal family title.
Bausec, Ssynec, and Aronn are for peerage (nobles), and for knights, there is Üémh and Borgh.
Descendant of the imperial family would use the name Bausec. If your family existed before the empire was formed, then you would use the name Üémh or Aronn. So if you have Üémh, Aronn, Néïc, or Bausec in your name, then you know that you are a descendant of one of the 29 original clans. If you have Bourgh in your name, then you are a Terrain who has been promoted to an abh, or you are descended from a Terrain who was promoted to an abh. If you have Bourgh in your name, you can be promoted to a Ssynec by serving in the Star Field Navy (Lubarec). You can only be promoted though if you are successful.
Abh names also consist of a title; depending whether or not the person has a title. If the person does have a title, then it would come after his/her family name.
Example: Ablïarsec Néïc Dubleuscr Boerh Parhynr Lamhirh.
This is obviously Lamhirh's full name. In her name, Boerh is her title. Boerh or "Viscount" means that she has a territory under her name. So she is a noble like Ghintec (Jinto). In this case though, Ghintec is a higher-ranking noble than Lamhirh. His title is Dreur (Earl). This means he has an inhabited planet in his territory. Lamhirh however, doesn't have an inhabited planet in her territory. But she can be promoted to Earl if the second planet were to be terra-formed.
Even a person without a territory can be promoted to the ranks of a noble by success in the Star Field Navy.
Example: Bibauth Aronn Nellémr Rüé Dreuc Nellésr Nélaith is an Earl, even though he has no territory under his name. In his case, his title can't be succeeded by anyone cause there is no territory to succeed.

"Abh classes and ranks"
The empire is made up of eight royal families. At the head of each of these families is a king or queen. They each have their respective territories, which make up the empire. Below the kings and queens, are the nobles and knights. Each noble has his/her own territory, which make up the family's territory. There are different ranks for nobles.
A Baron has no habitable planet or planet that could be terra-formed in his/her territory. Therefore, a Baron has no chance of being promoted. However, a viscount does have planet(s) in his/her territory. So if a viscount were to have their planet terra-formed, they can be promoted to the rank of Earl. If their planets population reaches more than 100 million, then they will be promoted to the rank of Marquees.
As for abh people in general, they have ranks too. There are nationals and subjects. The difference between a subject and a national is that a subject is controlled by his/her ruler. Example: the Baron's vassals are subjects. In the case of the subject, the empire has no authority to interfere with the relationship between the subject and their ruler. However on the other hand, a national is under the rule of the empire, not a noble. Although, a subject may join the Star Field Navy and become a national. If a subject becomes a national, then they mat be promoted to an Abh.
When a noble is a prince or princess, this doesn't mean they are related to the empress, or even royal. This simply means that they are next in line for the position of noble. Kind of like a noble-in-training. Ghintec (Jinto) is a prince cause he is next in line for the position of noble for his territory.
